We made it through yet another winter! The spring equinox has come.
If you want an easy way to take better care of yourself this spring, here’s a great opportunity. My herbalist colleague is now offering subscription-based herbal care delivered to your home, Our road home. Many of you know Amanda; she has provided your tincture formulas for the past few years.
I know her medicines are magical and can bring us back into our GOLD nature.
For April she’ll be offering tinctures and a topical salve…
Herbal topicals are very effective because they avoid the digestive system, which is great when it needs a break. Touch is also healing, and when combined with a strong herbal salve, it becomes a powerful ritual.
This next bit is directly from her;
Subscribe for the box of your choosing by contacting Amanda, amandalynn.444@gmail.com

As the days grow longer and we transition from the dark, dormant winter months into the vibrant spring season, the body undergoes physiological changes to adjust to the increased daylight. These changes include shifts in circadian rhythms, hormonal fluctuations, and energy levels. Certain herbs can support the body’s natural adaptation to longer daylight hours, helping with mood, sleep, and energy balance.
This month Lemon balm or Holy basil

How it helps: Lemon Balm
Mood & Relaxation: Lemon balm is known for its calming properties and can help alleviate anxiety or restlessness that may arise with seasonal changes. As the body adjusts to longer daylight, lemon balm promotes relaxation, which is essential for managing the increase in energy and mood swings.
Improving Sleep Quality: This herb can support sleep by calming the nervous system, making it helpful if the transition to longer days disrupts your regular sleep pattern.
Body Chemistry:
Lemon balm has mild sedative and anti-anxiety effects, which can help reduce nervousness or insomnia related to changing daylight. It also supports GABA receptors in the brain, which play a role in relaxation and stress reduction.

How it helps: HOLY BASIL
Adaptogen & Stress Relief: Holy Basil is an adaptogen known for its ability to help the body cope with stress, balance hormones, and regulate the immune system. As we move into longer days, Holy Basil helps manage the effects of stress that can arise from changes in light and environmental factors.
Energy & Clarity: Holy Basil also helps to boost mental clarity and energy, without overstimulation, making it beneficial for the transition to more active spring months.
Body Chemistry:
Holy Basil helps regulate cortisol levels and supports overall resilience. It also has anti-inflammatory properties, which can support the body as it adjusts to new environmental conditions.

One of my favorite quotes from the book “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton is the young man’s last words: “stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold.”
He is talking about a poem by Robert Frost, which suggests that life starts off beautiful. We begin with a fresh view, seeing all the magic and beauty around us. But over time, life wears us down, and we can lose the ability to appreciate that magic and wonder. We forget how to feel that joy and become tired and broken. We forget what it means to be truly alive.
How can we stay gold?
Get outside – be around that new gold green life – remind yourself life is magical, it is golden. It is not the machine. It is not the computer telling you NO.
Take gold green medicines. Those magical herbs offering their gold are great reminders to come back to our gold nature (tincture, tea, oils, salves, and eating vegetables).
Life is gold. We are gold. Stay gold.
